NCAA Div. I
Corey Bullock (‘09) begins his track career at Cal State Fullerton, following a strong cross country season in which ran in the team’s top five all year. After losing his junior year at GHS to serious lung issues, Corey rebounded for a strong senior year. He was Sierra League Champ and placed 6th at CIF Finals in the 1600. His PR’s of 4:24.50 (1600) and 9:32.52 (3200) rank him 9th and 3rd on the GHS AT lists.
Jordan Edmond (‘07) will be a red-shirt sophomore at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, focusing on the long sprints and relays. Jordan advanced to the California State Meet his senior year in the 200, after finishing 4th in the 400 and 5th in the 200 at the CIF Division 1 Championships, and he was the 2007 Sierra League champ in the 200. Jordan is our school record holder at 200 meters in 21.76, ran the 400 leg on the school record Distance Medley Relay, and is second on the All-Time list in the 100 and 400 with times of 10.94c and 48.74, and was part of the 6th AT 4×100 and 4×400 GHS relay teams. Thomas Finnigan (‘08) will compete as a red-shirt freshman for Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. Competing in track only during his junior and senior years of high school, he is 7th All-Time GHS in the 1600 (4:24.44), 4th AT with 9:37.46 in the 3200, and ran the 1600 leg on our school record Distance Medley Relay. Thomas was the SGV and Sierra League 800 meters champ in ‘07, the SGV Champs Athlete of the Meet and winner at 800 & 1600 in ‘08. He was also league champ and advanced to the CIF Div I finals in cross country his senior year. At LMU – 2009: Medical red-shirt due to injury
Madeline LeDuc (‘07) is a junior at UC Irvine. She is our school record holder in the Long Jump – 19′0″ and Triple Jump – 39′5″, and is also tenth on the all-time list in the 200 at 26.84c. LeDuc was Sierra League Champion in both of her events in 2007, and advanced to CIF in at least one event in each of her four years at GHS. In her senior year, Madeline was CIF Division 1 Champion in the Triple Jump and fourth in the Long Jump, and went on to compete in the Triple Jump at the California State Meet. At UCI – 2008: Madeline transitioned to college competition with numerous excellent efforts in the triple jump, topped by a 39′3-1/2″ effort at the Steve Scott Classic – making her the fourth best performer in UC Irvine history. 2009: Had seasonal bests of 18′1-1/2″ in the LJ and led the team with a 39′1-1/2″ TJ mark that placed her 7th in the Big West Conference Meet. Named All-Academic Big West Conf.
Christopher Ramsey (‘09) is a freshman at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. In his senior year, Chris was Covina Invite, Mt.Sac Invite and Sierra League Champ at 800 meters, and advanced to CIF Finals and the Masters Meet in that event. He ran the 800 leg on our school record DMR in ‘07 and has five spots on the GHS AT lists: 50:34, =9th 400; 1:53.15, 2nd 800; 4:24.28, 6th 1600; 6th in the 4×100 and 9th, 4×400. At Yale - 2010: (Indoors) Chris’s won the 800 in the Dartmouth/Columbia/Yale meet and he was part of Yale’s 3rd place Distance Medley Relay at the Ivy/Heptagonal Conference meet. Indoor bests – 800: 1:55.27, 1000: 2:31.96.
NCCA Div. II
Joey Divizia (‘08) has recently transferred to Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado from Cal State Fullerton. He is the GHS record holder, at 4:17.84, for 1600 meters, and ran the 1200 leg on the school record Distance Medley Relay. He is also 2nd AT in the 3200 (9:23.70). Joey was Covina Invite Champ at 1600 and Sierra League Champ in the 3200 and advanced to the CIF Div I finals in the 1600 in ‘08. At CS Fullerton: 2009: won the Trojan Invite 3000 meters in 8:36.40. Other seasonal bests – 800: 1:59.83, 1500: 3:58.01, 5000: 14:42.87. At Adams State – 2010: (Indoor) Finished 8th in the 5000 at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference meet, with indoor bests of 3000: 8:54.72, 5000: 15:44.96 – all at altitude.
Johanna Murray (‘09) is a frosh at Cal Poly Pomona. Johannah advanced to CIF her junior and senior years in the 800, where her 2:24.51 PR ranks 5th All-Time GHS. Her bests in the 1600 (5:28.59) and 300 hurdles (49.02) both rank 9th AT GHS.
Melissa Nguyen (‘09) begins her career at Cal Poly Pomona. Melissa was a two time CIF qualifier in the pole vault and Sierra League champ her senior year. Her PR of 9′0 puts her 6th on the Tartan All-Time List.
NCAA Div. III
Marcus Denerson (‘08) – is a sophomore at the University of La Verne. Marcus was a two-time CIF qualifier in the discus and qualified in the shot his senior year. Had PR’s of 48′2- Shot, and 148′1″- Discus, which ranks him 7th on the GHS All-Time List. At LVU – 2009: Won the Redlands Invite and was 6th in the SCIAC Conference in the Javelin. Had seasonal bests of 175′1″- Javelin, 133′4″- Hammer, 117′4″- Discus, 39′10″ – Shot.
Aja Sanneh (‘09) - begins her career at Occidental College in Eagle Rock, CA Aja was a four-time varsity finalist in the sprints at GHS, and advanced to CIF her senior year as part of the 5th best GHS All-Time 4×100 relay team.
NAIA
Justin Matthews (‘09) – is a frosh at Azusa Pacific University. He advanced to CIF prelims in the discus his senior year. Justin also plays football at APU.
Alison Sharp (‘07) – is a junior at Westmont College in Montecito, CA. She is our school record holder in the discus (123′9″) and second AT in the shot (36′9″) and was a two time CIF qualifier. At Westmont – 2008: Posted team best marks in the shot put (38-0), discus (120-5), javelin (94-2) and weight throw (34-6.25) and a season best of 122-11 in the hammer. Finished 5th in the discus and hammer and sixth in the shot in the Golden State Athletic Conference meet. 2009: Named “Most Valuable Female Track Athlete”… Broke the team hammer record with 136′8 throw… Posted team best mark of the season in the shot put at 37-11.5 (11.57m) and in the discus at 124.10 (38.06m) Finished 3rd in the hammer, 4th in the shot and discus, and 8th in the javelin in the GSAC meet.
Junior College
Ashley Carter (‘-09) – begins her track career at Mt. San Antonio College. Ashley advanced to CIF her senior year in the discus. Her best of 107′1″ is 7th best All-Tme GHS.
Catherine Chidester (‘09) – is in her first year at Mt. San Antonio College – was a CIF qualifier in the discus her senior year. Her bests of 34′3″ in the shot and 114′6″ in the discus both rank 4th on the GHS All-Time lists
Shawn Miller (‘09) - is a frosh at Citrus College – In her only year of GHS track, Shawn advanced to CIF with the 5th All-Time GHS 4×100 relay and her PR’s of 12.74c in the 100 and 26.81 in the 200 ranked her =4th and 8th, respectively GHS All-Time.
