Here’s what our athletes need to take care of to be ready for the season.
- Complete the team online sign-up form so we can get your phone number and email
- Commit to being at practice on time, and every day. We will not go the full time every day, but you should never plan on leaving before 5:30.
- Come prepared for practice – athletic shoes, spikes or event shoes, sweats, and something to drink. Dress like a track athlete – go to the Gear Advice page on our site for links to track oriented web suppliers.
- Learn to love our sport. Go through this site and read last year’s meet reports. Become familiar with our team stats page and set your goals for the season. Familiarize yourself with the many great websites that cover our sport: Track and Field News, Flotrack, and DyeStatCal – the ultimate website for California high school track and XC. Follow our program’s alumni/ae as they compete – fifteen former Tartans will compete in college track and field this year – five on the NCAA Div 1 level. Watch track on TV.
- Learn how to take care of your body – and start by reading Sleeping+Eating+Drinking = Success on our website.
- Commit to becoming an expert in your event. Learn the drills, techniques, vocabulary and strategies needed for success.
- Become a fan of your teammates.
2010 is going to be a great year for GHS Track and Field – make it great for you.
