Big day for the Tartans as we competed against San Gorgonio, Charter Oak and the hosts in the Claremont Quad Meet. This was the opening meet for our returning athletes, and the second meet for some of our newcomers – and it was great start! Our boys team won the meet, which came down to the 4 x 400 Relay which we won in a stirring battle with Claremont under the lights.
The Tartans were led by senior Christopher Ramsey, who opened his final season with a rare 1600/200 double win – the 200 a PR 23.20 and then finished the meet by bringing home a strong anchor leg in in the 4 x 400 relay, which finished in 3:29.40, just outside the GHS All-Time Top Ten list. Chris was joined on the relay by Derrick Erwing (Jr), Austin Goodheart (Jr) and Dillon Downard (Soph).
The Tartans won three other events: senior Craig Cassel with a PR 11.45 in the 100, Austin Goodheart – an easy 2:05.45 PR in the 800, and the 4 x 100 Relay of Alex Ostrowski (Jr), Derrick Erwing, Cameron Duffy (Jr) and sophomore Isaiah Baiseri, who ran down the San Gorgonio anchor and held off a strong challenge from Charter Oak.
The girls were led by a strong 100/200 double from senior Shawn Miller, who is in her first season with our team after coming over from softball, and shot/discus double from senior Catherine Chidester. Chide discus throw was PR 109′ 6″, which moved her from 6th to 5th on the All-Time list. Fellow senior Johannah Murray was our other winner in the 800, where she got out fast and held on for the win.
Partial results are here. (We’re still missing some of the girls results, and will update when we get them from Claremont).
